Valentine's Day was a very exciting day in our class. We had four centers at the end of the day which included Valentine's Day BINGO, frosting sugar cookies, minute-to-win-it marshmallow toss, and minute-to-win-it conversation heart stacking. Thank you to all the parents who volunteered!

Parker's favorite art project this year, like many other students', is this leaf. The students covered the paper leaf in Karo Syrup, and then used watercolors to paint it.
I got spoiled this week during Teacher Appreciation. These are the drawings each student worked so hard to make for me.
This art project that Allyson created is the Life Cycle of a Butterfly. She used a different type of pasta for each stage of a butterfly's life.
To celebrate our 100th day of school, the whole second grade dressed up like we were 100 years old! It was so much fun seeing everyone's costumes, and being able to do some fun hundreds day activities.
Logan's favorite art project this year was his hundreds portrait. He ripped pieces of paper to create a self-portrait of himself of when he is 100 years old.
Lexi's favorite art project this year has been her snowflake water color. She folded her paper into fourths, and then with white crayon drew snow flakes all over the paper. Then she used water colors to paint each quarter of the paper with a different color.
Miles' favorite art project and writing piece this year was his own version of the story "The Mitten." He wrote about losing his yellow mitten outside, and about three animals that decided to crawl inside. Then he got to weave his own mitten, and make the animals he included in his story out of paper to put inside his mitten.
At the end of Grinch Day we got to watch "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." Christmas Around the World was a huge success! The students got to visit 9 different countries. In my classroom they visited the UK, Mexico, and America. In the UK they made holly berry cards, in Mexico they made poinsettias, and in America they made luminaries. Thank you to our parent volunteers that helped the day run smoothly! On Polar Express Day we got to dress up in our pajamas! We also got to watch a little bit of the movie, "The Polar Express" while decorating sugar cookies and drinking hot chocolate. Santa came to visit the 2nd grade! The students got to ask Santa some questions, and we sang him some songs. With the help of Mrs. Peterson and Mrs. Loftin, my students made me this wonderful apron as a Christmas present! This is when my students received their Christmas presents from me!
