One of the activities the students participated in to prepare for our Thanksgiving activities was making Indian beads out of play clay. We had so much fun during our Thanksgiving centers on Monday and Tuesday! The centers shown above are the ones the students did on Monday. They made necklaces using their Indian beads, drew and painted a turkey, colored a thankful plateful, and created a thankful paper chain. On Tuesday, students read Thanksgiving books, wove a canoe, made a turkey out of a paper plate and tissue paper, beaded a bracelet, and created an Indian headband. Another activity students engaged in was writing a story including Indian symbols. They first crinkled up a paper bag until it felt soft and leathery. Then they wrote their story on the paper bag trying to use as many Indian symbols as they could.
