Dear Parents,
April reading calendars are due. If your child hasn't turned theirs in yet, please have them turn it in this week.
I have updated our class website. Click on the "Blog" tab to see pictures of the fun activities we have done in the past few months.
Miss Lybbert will not be teaching at Spanish Oaks next year, but she will be tutoring for reading and math this summer. Let me know if you are interested in her tutoring services, and I will send your child home with a flier.
We are doing our state testing this week. We start as soon as the 9:00am bell rings, so please have your student at school on time.
We have received many items for our auction basket, but we are still in need of more items. Thank you for those who have already donated. Just so we don't get any repeats, here is a list of items we already have: paper plates, paper cups, picnic tablecloth, forks, knives, spoons, napkins, soda (Orange Crush), Snickers, bubbles, water slide, bubble guns, ketchup and mustard containers to hold ketchup and mustard, sticky paddles with a ball, kite, plastic baseball bat with a plastic ball, chips and salsa, and a frisbee .
The school carnival is Friday, May 15th from 5:00pm-7:00pm. THe 5K Race/Fun Run is on Saturday, May 16th from 8am-10am.

Dear Parents,
At SEP Conferences I gave each student a yellow paper that was placed in their manila folder. This is a take home library sheet that must be signed every time your child has finished reading a book. It must be signed in order for your child to be allowed to check out a new take home library book.
Our end of year carnival/fundraiser is on May 15, 2015. We will be having a Silent Basket Auction. Each class will provide a basket to be auctioned off. Our class is doing a Let's Have a Picnic basket. If you would like to donate any new items to this basket, please sent them to school with your child any time from now until May 1, 2015. Here are some ideas for our class basket:
Our class field trip to Harward Farms in Springville is next week on Wednesday, April 1, 2015. There is no limit to how many parents can come. You are also welcome to bring your kids. It is a very low key field trip, and parents won't really have any responsibilities. You will have to drive yourself though because there is no room on the bus. Just let me know if you would like to come.

Dear Parents,
Just a reminder that our 2nd grade program is this week. I will need students to wear jeans, a white shirt, and a bandanna of any color around their neck during the program. They can choose whether to wear it to school both days or bring it to change into.
As most of you know, our school does a basket auction every year. Our class theme is a picnic basket. If you have any items you'd like to donate, just have your child bring them to my classroom. Here is a list of ideas for our basket:
There were also three reading calendars sent home with the students this month: their normal March reading calendar, Seven Peaks Reading calendar, and a Rodeo calendar. Students just need to record their reading minutes on all 3 calendars, and bring them back to school.
For the Seven Peaks calendar, students will receive one free child day pass to Seven Peaks. Students will need to read 500 minutes during the month of March. Make sure that your child and a parent or guardian signs this reading chart AND the "Rules and Guidelines" on the back of the reading chart. It must be returned to me by Monday, April 6th. Late entries will not be accepted.
For the Rodeo calendar, students will just need to record their normal reading minutes. If students return their calendar, then their name will be entered into a drawing to win two tickets to the Spanish Fork Fairgrounds Arena Rodeo.

Dear Parents,
November reading calendars are due. Please have your child bring their calendar in this week if they haven’t done so already.
There are a few students who forgot their book orders, so I am extending the due date just one more day. Please have your student bring their book order form and money to school by tomorrow, Tuesday, December 2nd.
We are so excited for this year's production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs!! Auditions are right around the corner starting on Tuesday, December 2 at 3:30 p.m.and December 3 at 2:30 p.m. in the Little Theater. Students do not need to attend both days. Please have them pick a day and come prepared to sing 16 measures of any song, or they may recite a song or short monologue. We want to see their personalities shine!! This year we are asking for a $10 participation fee for each student that will be in the show. This fee covers your child's main costume, set building, cast party, and royalties.

Dear Parents,
We will be having a Social Studies lesson on media this week. We will be learning how commercials seen between news programs vs. cartoons look very different. My goal is to help them see how commercials are geared toward a certain audience.
As the weather begins to cool, the expectation is for students to go outside on appropriate days. Students need to come dressed for outside play. When the temperature is below 20 degrees, students will be inside.
I still need one more volunteer for out Thanksgiving party on Monday, November 24th. If you signed up for Tuesday, you are welcome to sign up for Monday as well.
